There’s no shortage of things to do if you’re looking to get out and celebrate this Canada Day long weekend!

There’s a lot of stuff going on you can check out for Canada Day in the city, here’s a list of some of the events you can take in:

Music at The Forks

As usual The Forks will have multiple stages where you can get your fill of local music. The night will be capped off by Don Amero playing with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra before the fireworks start at 11 p.m. Music starts at 12:30 p.m. under the canopy and will continue there and on the Festival Stage throughout the night. Osborne Village

The Osborne Village Canada Day and Street Festival takes place on – you guessed it – Osborne Street. Music gets started around noon on Canada Day and events run through until the early evening on Sunday, July 3.

Canadian Museum for Human Rights

The CMHR is lowering their admission rate to $5 on Canada Day, on the condition you’re wearing red, white or clothing with a maple leaf on it. The museum has a number of family events planned as well as tours throughout the day at 10:30 a.m., 11:30a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Children’s Museum

The Children’s Museum will be hosting a number of events during the day, including a workshop where you can create your own beaver puppet. This educational event runs from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Canada Day.

Can Con "Bands as Bands"

The Good Will and Social Club is putting on their popular segment, “Bands as Bands” with a Canadian twist. At these shows, local groups play sets where they cover songs of famous bands. For this particular event, Surprise Party/Ultra Mega will appear as The Guess Who, Micah Erenberg as Neil Young and Roger Roger as The Band. Tickets for the Canada day show are $10 and doors open at 9 p.m.

Canada Day Living Flag

If you get up early enough in the morning on Canada Day you can head down to Shaw Park and be part of the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ Canada Day Living Flag. Those who take part are given red or white t-shirts and are aligned as the Canadian flag. For more information, visit downtownwinnipegbiz.com.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Being the only Canadian team in their league, it’s fitting the Winnipeg Goldeyes will be at home on Canada Day. It’s made even sweeter by the fact that for the first time in a number of years, the Goldeyes have multiple Canadians on their roster. Watch as infielders Wes Darvill (Richmond, BC), Carter McEachern (Thunder Bay, ON), pitcher Kyle Lotzkar (Delta, BC) and the rest of the Goldeyes take on the Sioux Falls Canaries just a hop away from The Forks at Shaw Park. Tickets range from $10-$22 and can be bought online, over the phone or at the box office. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Assiniboine Park

The Lyric Theatre at Assiniboine Park will be home to Canada Day entertainment from 1 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. followed by fireworks at 10:40. There will also be birthday cake served at 3:30 p.m. The Assiniboine Park Zoo will be open regular hours throughout the weekend and will host a number of Canada Day events.

St. Norbert Farmer’s Market

The St. Norbert Famer’s Market will be open on Canada Day with local vendors selling their products. The family-oriented event will also feature a series of entertainers and kid-friendly activities. The night will be capped off by fireworks. It opens at 3 p.m. on Canada Day and is located at 3514 Pembina Highway.

The Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada

Similar to the CMHR, the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada will be open throughout the weekend and will have lowered admission on Canada day at just $2. On Canada Day as well as July 3 they will be hosting guided tours at 2 p.m. Regular admission rates apply for Saturday, July 2 and Sunday, July 3.
