Cellist David Liam Roberts burst onto the Winnipeg classical music scene following his win of the Aiken's Memorial Trophy at the young age of 14,. The top instrumental prize awarded at the Winnipeg Music Festival - and he is the second youngest winner in its 100 year history. Since then, David Liam has been described as a “Prodigiously gifted young cellist who displays an artistic sensibility well beyond his tender years” (Winnipeg Free Press).

He is one of three WMC McLellan Competition finalists - the sole instrumentalist - who performs this Sunday with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra for a share of $20,000 worth of prize money. The competition, hosted by Classic 107's Claudia Garcia de la Huerta, takes place at Jubilee Place Auditorium at Mennonite Brethren Collegiate (173 Talbot Avenue) from 2PM until 5PM.
