Have a few rare books, a map collection, or an old painting in your attic? Or just wonder what your grandmother’s engagement ring is worth? Bring them to the WAG November 15 and 16 to have them appraised by Bonhams.

Funds raised will support the growth and preservation of the WAG’s permanent collection.

Items that will be appraised include jewellery, paintings, prints, sculptures, porcelain, silver, pottery, glassware, books, maps, furniture, and other antiques. Items not eligible for appraisal are coins, bank notes, stamps, toys, musical instruments, or militaria.

For items too large to transport to the Gallery, participants can opt to bring in photographs provided they are of sufficient clarity and detail.

Tune in to Classic 107 this week, because we are going to give away 5 appraisal spots throughout all of our programs. We'll also be talking to one of the appraisers to get an inside look at just what kinds of things they're on the hunt for! Tune in to find out when!

Established in England in 1793, Bonhams is one of the world's oldest and largest auctioneers of fine art and antiques. It is one of a very few top-tier fine art auction houses in the world, and is among the most respected and trusted brands in the industry. From a single showroom in eighteenth-century London, Bonhams' expertise and the trust of its clients has enabled it to grow into the international business it is today. With major salesrooms in London, New York, San Francisco, Hong Kong and Los Angeles, Bonhams conducts some 400 annual sales through its sixty specialist departments.

Doors will be open both Saturday and Sunday from 9am-5pm with tea and coffee available. Cost of appraisal is $20 per item. Limit of four items per person. Registration is required: email ewiens@wag.ca.

Everyone is invited to attend whether or not they have objects for appraisal. Enjoy giveaways of admission tickets to the Masterworks from the Beaverbrook Art Gallery and Dalí Up Close exhibitions.
