An event this Thursday aims to show people what it's like to live with dyslexia.

"Dyslexia for a Day" is a workshop hosted by Friends of Dyslexia Canada.

Cheryl Hoffman is a founding member of Friends of Dyslexia, and has two children with the condition.

At the event, people are askedto write a paragraph about what they did the day before, but they have to use their non-dominant hand and there are certain words that are off limits.

Hoffman says they want people to have a better understanding of the issue, so they can empower dyslexic students to succeed.

She says the condition can cause issues for young people in school, and it often goes unnoticed.

Hoffman says knowing how to spot dyslexia early is key.

The event takes place this Thursday at the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities, and you can purchase tickets at eventbrite.ca.
