The Winnipeg Police have detained two adults, one of who has outstanding warrants, for attacking two victims on a transit bus

On January 19, 2023, at approximately 8:30 p.m., officers from the Central District responded to the report of an assault on board a Transit bus involving an adult male and his 10-year-old son.
 
A male and female passenger, unknown to the father and son, randomly began shouting obscenities at them. The assault escalated, and the victims were both punched in the head numerous times. The two suspects immediately fled the bus; however, the male returned and slapped the father across the face before making his final exit.
 
Police located the bus stopped in the 500 block of Main Street and met with the victims and witnesses. The adult and child were transported to the hospital in stable condition and treated for their injuries.
 
The two accused were standing nearby and taken into custody.
 
A 31-year-old male, Clifford Mentuck of Winnipeg, was charged with:
 
- Assault x 2
- Failing to Comply with Undertaking
- Warrant for Break & Enter x 2 (RCMP)

A 37-year-old female, Nida Diane Kipling of Winnipeg, was charged with assault.
 
They were both detained in custody.
