The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to three house fires in under seven hours.

Just after 7 p.m. on Wednesday night, crews responded to a call in a two-storey, single-family home in the 200 block of Bairdmore Boulevard.

After finding smoke coming from the house, WFPS launched an interior fire attack. The blaze was declared under control at 7:37 p.m.

All occupants in the house safely self-evacuated before crews arrived. No injuries were reported.

Shortly before 11 p.m., the WFPS responded to reports of a fire in a two-story, single-family house in the 100 block of Avalon Road.

Crews found smoke in the house upon arrival. They were quickly able to extinguish it, declaring it under control at 11:09 p.m.

Occupants of the house safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews, and no injuries were reported.

Observations suggest the cause of the fire was accidental, due to the improper storage of batteries.

Residents are reminded to safely store batteries to prevent the risk of fire.

Early Thursday morning, at 1:27, crews responded to reports of a fire in a two-story, single-family house in the 100 block of Castlebury Meadows Drive.

Heavy smoke and flames were coming from the home and attached garage when crews arrived. WFPS knocked down some of the flames, which allowed entry to the home to fight the fire. The blaze was declared under control at 2:24 a.m.

All occupants in the house safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported.

The house suffered significant smoke, fire, and water damage.

The fire remains under investigation.
