RCMP are investigating a rollover Saturday afternoon that left five people dead.

At around 5 p.m. yesterday, officers responded to Highway 83, approximately 19 kilometres south of Swan River.

When they arrived at the scene they located an SUV in the ditch.

All five occupants of the car, two females aged 42 and 26, and three males aged 37, 36 and 25 were found deceased at the scene.

"This is an absolute tragedy, another collision with multiple fatalities on our roads," said S/Sgt. Joe Duncan, Detachment Commander of Sean River RCMP. "Our thoughts are with those communities and everyone who lost a loved one."

RCMP say the vehicle was travelling northbound when it left the roadway and landed in a ditch.

All occupants of the vehicle were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle.

It's believed speed played a factor in the crash.

RCMP continue to investigate.
