A student at the University of Winnipeg hopes a new study will shed light on a phenomenon known as Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR).

ASMR is a perceptual experience where a person experiences tingling in the head and neck when exposed to certain triggering stimuli. The phenomenon has only been identified and named in the last several years, but since then has been gaining wide recognition with the help of the internet.

Fourth-year Biopsychology student Bev Fredborg is studying subjects with ASMR for her Honours thesis. The study is one of the first of its kind to be done on people with ASMR. Classic 107's Luke Thiessen spoke with Fredborg and one of her subjects about the phenomenon and her thesis experiment.
