The Winnipeg Jets may have started their season in California but it wasn't all sunshine as they fell 4-1 to the Anaheim Ducks.

It wasn't for lack of effort, though, as the Jets outshot their hosts 33-24.

Kyle Connor had the only goal in the outing for the Jets. "I thought our forecheck was pretty good, a lot of sticks, good gap. Our Ds had pretty good pinches down there, kept a couple of plays alive in the first and the second there," says Connor. "We'll look at the film and getting better from this one."

"I liked the chances that we got. The mentality of putting the puck to the net," says Jets head coach Paul Maurice. "Our penalty kill probably got what it deserved. We ended up in our end, in structure, far more than we needed to be."

The Jets went 0-5 on the power play while the Ducks were able to convert twice on five power play opportunities.

The Jets now have two days off before taking on the Sharks in San Jose on Saturday evening.
