In an effort to bring funding for cancer treatment, Super Auto Centres is celebrating their best recorded Pink Caps for Cancer Campaign.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness which brings awareness to the urgent need in the fight against breast cancer. Many companies and organizations join in on this effort, and Super Auto Centres (SAC) is one of them.

During the month of October, SAC allowed customers to make a $5 donation to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation and in return, they would receive a set of four pink tire caps and a complimentary certificate for their winter tire installation at Super Tire Express.

There are other rewards for larger donations. With a $10 donation, customers received more pink driving accessories like a brand-new pink Super Toque. A $25 donation got visitors a pink edition of their Super Safety Kit.

Going on six years of bringing awareness to the battle against breast cancer, SAC has raised the most amount of money through its campaign since starting in 2017.

Raising over $3,000 more than in 2021, the Pink Caps for Cancer Campaign raised a total of $18,555 to support screening programs through CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.

This now puts their grand total, from 2017 to 2022, at over $87,000.

"As a locally owned business, we have relationships with our customers and deep roots in our community. As we help maintain your car, it's also our privilege to get involved in a deeper way. To us, Putting a Cap on Breast Cancer means using our resources and relationships to help Cap the effects of a disease that if caught early, can often be successfully treated. Every Pink Tire Cap you see on the road is a billboard to help catch cancer early, and every dollar donated breathes life back into our community," says Jonnie Hendrickson, the President of Super Auto Centres.

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancer diagnoses in Canadian women, with the estimate by CancerCare Manitoba Foundation that approximately 27,400 women will be diagnosed next year.

Since the 1980s, there has been a 48 per cent decline in breast cancer deaths.

SAC is also reminding the general public to winterize their vehicle before it gets too cold. This includes swapping out their summer tires for winter tires, winter oil changes, get their vehicle battery tested, and top up fluid, including winter windshield wiper fluid.
