After five seasons as Principal Conductor of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, maestro Julian Pellicano has been announced as Staff Conductor of the National Ballet of Canada.

Beginning with the 2024/25 season, Pellicano will work alongside the National Ballet's current Music Director and Principal Conductor David Briskin.

According to the announcement, Pellicano will continue to serve as Music Director of the RWB though will step down as Associate Conductor of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, a position he has held since 2013, in May 2024.

“After 11 seasons and hundreds of concerts with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and our wonderful audience, I can truly say that my experience with the WSO has shaped my musicianship, honed my craft as a conductor, and developed within me a deep love for the city of Winnipeg and Manitoba since making my home here," said Pellicano in a Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra press release.

Whether onstage with the WSO or in the pit with the RWB, Pellicano has showcased his versatility across a broad spectrum of genres, dynamic interpretations and meticulous technique, always bringing an incisive musicality and collaborative spirit to every performance.
