The biennial WMC McLellan Competition provides emerging Manitoba-born or Manitoba-educated musicians the unique opportunity to perform alongside the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and compete for $20,000 in career funding.

Presented by the Women’s Musical club of Winnipeg, the final round takes place at Jubilee Place Auditorium on Thursday, April 18.

Pianist Jammie Lee has been a top-prize and award winner at several national and international competitions, including second prize at the International ENKOR Competition (2021, 2018, 2015), and a gold award at the 2021 North American Virtuoso International Music Competition, amongst others.

The McGill University graduate is looking to pursue a career in medicine, though music will surely continue to play a vital role in his life.

Having kept his chops by practicing on a digital keyboard throughout his time in Montreal, Lee performs the virtuosic Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini by Sergei Rachmaninoff with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Julian Pellicano.

Tickets for the WMC McLellan Competition for Solo Performance are $40 with special pricing available to those under the ages of 30 and 12.
