Following harpist Emmanuel Ceysson's visit to Winnipeg to play some of the most lauded harp repertoire out there, let's learn a little more about the worlds oldest stringed instrument.

French rock paintings from c. 15,000 BC illuminate the existence of a triangular-framed string instrument, standing upright, and being plucked. Since then (and likely, before), so many variations of plucked harps have been developed by virtually every global culture. Welsh harpist Catrin Finch takes us on a journey through the evolution of the harp in Wales and around the world in a BBC FOUR production titled simply: The Harp.
