A new business wants to give people in Manitoba something new to try for birthday parties and events.

Greg and Derek McKnight started Archery Games Winnipeg earlier in 2017. Their first booking was in May and Greg says they've seen a steady flow of bookings since.

"We've noticed we've been getting a lot of calls and emails for birthday and bachelor parties and one or two corporate events so far," said Greg McKnight. "We provide parties for people of all ages and it's a good feeling. We always say when we leave a party that if we can provide some fun memories for people and kids, that's kind of what we're shooting for."

The arrows people use are foam tipped and the business provides safety gear like face masks. Despite the seemingly unsafe nature oft he word "arrow tag", McKnight says it's a completely safe game.

"When you get hit by the arrow it's essentially like getting hit by a foam dodgeball and kids play dodgeball in gym class all the time," he said. "When you get hit you're just getting hit by a big piece of foam."

He says the bows are not overly powerful either, and typically can only shoot the arrow at a distance around 30 feet.

McKnight says the equipment for the events is portable and the company delivers the equipment to wherever the party organizer wants them to. They also deliver outside of Winnipeg and offer a number of different types of games and provide the set up and clean up.
