This week, the Desautels Chamber Opera Group presents Nico Muhly’s 'Dark Sisters.'

Having premiered in 2010, the opera is the first by the popular and prolific American composer and tells the daring, distressing and dramatic story of one woman’s dangerous attempt to escape her life as a member of the FLDS (Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints) Church.

Set for chamber orchestra and solo voices, two of the "sister wives" – sopranos Sonia Campbell and Mélanie Dupuis – were in the Classic 107 studio to chat about the production.

The performance takes place in the Vocal Arts Room in the Tache Arts Complex at the University of Manitoba with two opportunities to take in the production: Thursday, November 9 and Friday, November 10. Both shows begin at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets $20/Students $12
