The City of Winnipeg and Manitoba Public Insurance are each offering advice for drivers and pedestrians out tomorrow night.

For trick-or-treaters, MPI says don't run out onto roadways, look both ways when crossing the street, walk facing traffic if there's no sidewalk, and wear reflective clothing. Among the city's recommendations are: carry a flashlight, don't take shortcuts, never enter a stranger's home, and have treats examined by an adult caregiver before eating them.

MPI is telling motorists to slow down if they see children walking, and don't assume the kids can see your vehicle. Kids may dart between parked vehicles or out onto the street, so be prepared to stop. The city says children will be excited and unpredictable, so drive with caution.

MPI says it recently distributed 117,000 reflective bags to 568 schools.
