Morning rush hour traffic is being detoured from a busy St. Boniface street Wednesday morning.

The Winnipeg Police Service says they are on scene of a serious incident on Provencher Boulevard.

A caller to the radio station says that police have taped off both directions of the street in the area of the old St. Boniface City Hall.

In a tweet, the WPS confirms that Provencher is closed for a stretch of two blocks. Both eastbound and westbound Provencher are closed between Des Meurons Street and Langevin Street while police investigate.

There is no word at this time on what the incident involves.
