Over the past three days, there are 177 new COVID-19 cases in Manitoba.

Of the 65 cases reported today, the COVID-19 data shows:
• nine new cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
• five new cases in the Northern health region;
• 11 new cases in the Prairie Mountain Health region;   
• five new cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and   
• 35 new cases in the Winnipeg health region.

This includes 48 cases on Saturday, 64 cases on Sunday, and 65 cases Monday. There are 1,022 active cases and 54,309 individuals who have recovered from COVID-19.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 6.3 per cent provincially and 6.1 per cent in Winnipeg.

 

Hospitalizations

There is a total of 156 Manitobans needing COVID-19 hospital care. This includes 63 people in hospital in Manitoba with active COVID-19 as well as 87 people in hospital with COVID-19 who are no longer infectious, amounting to a total of 150 hospitalizations.

In ICU there are 16 people with active COVID-19 as well as 24 people with COVID-19 who are no longer infectious but continue to require critical care, amounting to a total of 40 ICU patients in Manitoba. Six Manitobans are receiving ICU care outside of Manitoba, in Ontario.

 

Deaths

COVID-19 deaths over the weekend include:

  • a male in his 40s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the alpha variant of concern
  • a male in his 60s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the B.1.1.7 (alpha) variant of concern
  • a male in his 70s from the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region, linked to the alpha variant of concern
  • a male in his 80s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the alpha variant of concern
