An injured hiker is back on solid ground after being rescued by Falcon Beach RCMP.

At around 4:50 p.m. on Monday, RCMP responded to an SOS beacon from a hiker on the Mantario Trail near Caribou Lake in Whiteshell Provincial Park.

Using a boat and a few ATVs, three officers, using GPS coordinates from the SOS beacon, located the hiker and brought the 59-year-old man to safety.

Two officers sustained minor injuries during the rescue. 

The hiker was checked by Emergency Medical Services and cleared.

The Mantario Trail is a 63-kilometre multipurpose trail located in southeastern Manitoba, predominantly located within Whiteshell Provincial Park.
