It's hard to believe, but it is the last show of February! So, let us take one more journey in February 2017, before we welcome in a new month. I am very excited to let you know that in the 4:00 hour I will have an exclusive interview with pianist Holly Bowling, and some music from her new CD, Better Left Unsung (music of the Grateful Dead). If you missed the interview you can listen to it here:

Before I fill you in on pianist Holly Bowling, let me give you an idea of what other music I have programmed for this weekend's trip.

We have wind music; transcriptions; apertif music (to get you ready for Dinner Classics); selections being performed at concerts in Winnipeg this weekend and much more. Here are a few examples of what you will hear:

And so that brings us to my interview with Holly Bowling. I was sent her music a few weeks back by my brother in Toronto, who is a big fan of the bands Phish and Grateful Dead. In fact, when we lived together back in the 80's in Vancouver, we travelled up and down the west coast to see several Grateful Dead concerts. Holly Bowling, who is a classically trained pianist, also loves the Grateful Dead and Phish, so much so that she has transcribed the music of both bands for solo piano. Her transcriptions ("jam transcriptions" she calls them) of Phish, became so popular that she decided to do a whole album dedicated to the Grateful Dead. It is fantastic music, and upon hearing it for the first time, I knew I wanted to interview her for The Wide World of Classical Music.

Listen to Part 1 & Part 2 of the interview below: I started by asking about her roots in Classical music:
