We will travel the world with stops in Africa, Spain, France and more; Joplin's Treemonisha continues with Act 3; and as always you can check here for what else is in store.

 

The show is called The Wide World of Classical Music, which you already know, so I figured I would take you to several places around the world and feature some great pieces of music, from the likes of Argentina, Africa, India, Turkey and many more. I am reading an amazing book right now called "The Other Classical Musics." edited by Michael Church, which highlights several traditions of Classical Music, outside the commonly know Western Classical Music. It is a fascinating read, which inspired me to program some music from other parts of the world.

Western Classical Music is replete with compositions and performances for violin, piano, cello, trumpet etc..., but I have dedicated an hour of the show this weekend to "different" or "unusual" Classical music instruments, such as the tuba, accordion, harmonica and more:

 

 

The Third Act of Treemonisha by Scott Joplin is lined up; we will check out some concerts scheduled across the globe; and turn up the volume for some Powerful Classics:
