Over 500 students from across the country competed in Winnipeg this past weekend as part of the Skills Canada National Competition. 

Manitoba fared well in the medal count, racking up 22 medals in total. Six people won gold medals representing Manitoba, including: 

  • Dallas Ducharme - CNC Machining
  • Kelvin Michaud - Electronics
  • Jose Inoc - Electrical Installations 
  • Elissa Polkowski - Cooking
  • Alain Lanouette - Sheet metal work
  • Margaret Gehman - Photography

The competition pits trades students from each province and territory against each other as they compete in a number of events ranging from culinary arts to hair-styling and welding to carpentry.
