Young students in the Sistema after-school music program performed with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra Wednesday afternoon in celebration of the program's 40th anniversary.

Sistema is an after-school program adopted by the WSO which teaches children to play violin, viola and double bass. It originated in Venezuela 40 years ago, and to celebrate the program's anniversary, students from the program took to the stage at the Centennial Concert hall for a special performance with the orchestra.

Classic 107's Luke Thiessen was there for the performance and spoke with a teacher and student from Sistema.
