Grade 12 student Sukhsagar Sawhney gets a lesson in occupational therapy.Grade 12 student Sukhsagar Sawhney wants to be a physician. She was one of four students chosen from her school.

"In my first session, I was just going through like a regular day at the office for like a family physician. So we learned like suturing, and then we learned how to measure blood pressure, and we did a little bit of giving needles, and we learned how to put a plaster on," said Sawhney.

For one of the day's instructors, everything came full circle.

Atley Durette is a second-year occupational therapy student. He was running one of the stations today, but years ago, he was one of the Discovery Day attendees.

"I came here and I absolutely fell in love with the profession, and although I didn't have the knowledge of an OT yet, I knew I was dedicated towards that for my entire undergrad and I have been at it ever since," said Durette.

More than 370 high school students and teachers from 81 schools in Manitoba took part today. Some traveled from as far as 350 kilometres away.
