The Icelandic composer wrote the music for "The Theory of Everything"--the biopic detailing the love story of astropysicist Stephen Hawking and fellow Cambrige student Jane Wilde.

The film is based on Jane Hawking's memoir, Travelling to Infinity: My Life With Stephen.

 

 

If the name Jóhann Jóhannsson sounds familiar, you may remember a piece of his that was performed at the 2012 WSO New Music Festival. It was called 'A Prayer to the Dynamo'

Jóhann Jóhannsson is also a producer who's been called "an intrepid musical enigma" by the BBC. His work has been called "elegant, haunting and melancholic". His music is frequently informed by minimalism, film music, baroque music and drone music and combines classical orchestration with electronic music. He was born in Reykjavík, Iceland.
