This year marks the 26th Winnipeg New Music Festival and they are celebrating Canada 150 with a diverse and colourful mosiac of Canadian ethnic composers starting with a

2017 WNMF Artistic Director Alexander Mickelthwate and Morning Light host Michael Wolch. Having Alexander for a Dad has its perks, especially when it means getting to hang out at Classic 107 on the way to school. (Jacob Mickelthwate pictured in the middle) major new work by Christos Hatzis, and ending the festival with Turkish composer Fazil Say's enormous Mesopotamia Symphony.

Meredith Monk is the festival's distinguished guest composer with performances on 3 different evenings.

The festival is also exploring new spaces and a bringing a 12 hour drone extravaganza to the city.
