WSO Music Director Alexander Mickelthwate and James Manishen dive into the timeless revolutionary composer who is the go-to composer for symphony orchestras. Tune in for this week's final ENCORE presentation.

Along with superstar violinist Joshua Bell performing Tchaikovsky, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra will open the season with Beethoven's 7th Symphony. On this week's show Alexander and James will take a deeper look at Beethoven through 

WSO Principal timpanist Mike Kempsome of the composer's other works as well as those of his teacher Franz Joseph Haydn.

We'll also find out more about Beethoven from the perspective of the musicians who perform his music ---WSO principal timpanist Mike Kemp, horn player James Robertson and Beethoven specialist, famed pianist Mitsuko Uchida.
