Join Chris Wolf in the 1pm hour of the show as he features the outstanding musicianship of Daniil Trifonov.

When Martha Argerich notes that you have “everything and more” as a pianist, it should not come as a surprise that this 26 year old has been invited around the world as a recitalist and concert soloist where the assessment is echoed by a flood of rave reviews, audience ovations and international prizes

Born in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, Daniil Trifonov burst onto the musical scene in the 2010-11 season, when he won medals at three of the music world’s most prestigious competitions, taking Third Prize in Warsaw’s Chopin Competition, First Prize in Tel Aviv’s Rubinstein Competition, and both First Prize and Grand Prix – an additional honour bestowed on the best overall competitor in any category – in Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Competition.

Since then, he has gone on to be awarded prestigious Franco Abbiati Prize for Best Instrumental Soloist by Italy’s foremost music critics (2013), record 4 CDs as a Deutsche Grammohon artist – which began with a Grammy nomination and ECHO Klassik award for his sold-out Carnegie Hall debut performance (2013), be named Gramophone’s 2016 “Artist of the Year,” and has performed with many of the top orchestras in the world.

Alex Ross, music critic of The New Yorker, notes his “rare combination of monstrous technique and lustrous tone” - tune in to hear it yourself!
