If you're planning to head out to the Whiteout Street Party tonight an extra layer might not be a bad idea.

"It's actually not going to be too bad out there tonight," Mike Russo from Environment Canada says.

"We are forecasting a high of plus two," he says. By the time the puck drops the temperatures will have dropped slightly. "It will probably be around zero degrees, probably around 6:30 or 7:00 p.m. It will drop down to minus seven by midnight."

Russo says that that really good news is there won't be much wind to speak of.

"If you want to get out there, make sure you're dressed warmly of course. It doesn't take too long to cool off at those temperatures."

As for the long-range forecast, Russo says we won't be hitting double digits anytime soon. But, as he points out, at this point of a spring like this anything above the freezing mark is good news.
