Firefighters are on scene of a large fire in the far west of Winnipeg on Wednesday morning.

Several units have responded to a structure fire on Loudoun Rd. The call came in around 6:20 this morning.

The City of Winnipeg says a large stretch of Loudoun Rd. is closed from Wyper Rd. to Wilkes Ave. Witnesses in the area say that it now appears that the closure may be further south of Wilkes, closer to Howe Ave.

It's not clear at this time on the cause of the fire or if there are any injuries. However, ambulances have been seen responding to the call around 7:45 a.m.

The City says that crews are expected to be on the scene throughout the morning.
