Winnipeg Police are searching for a suspect following a serious collision that sent a cyclist to hospital with serious injuries.

At around 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 30, 2023, officers responded to a report of a collision involving a cyclist at the intersection of Isabel Street and Notre Dame Avenue.

When police arrived, they located an unconscious 63-year-old man on the roadway. He was transported to hospital in unstable condition and later downgraded to critical but stable condition.

The vehicle involved in the crash fled the scene before police arrived. An unoccupied 2007 Pontiac G6 was found with significant damage a short distance away in the 100 block of Juno Street.

Police learned that four males were seen fleeing the vehicle before it was abandoned.

The Traffic Collision Investigation Section assumed the investigation and learned that a male cyclist was crossing Notre Dame Avenue and Isabel Street against a red traffic signal light when he was struck by the vehicle, projecting him onto the roadway.

Investigators are requesting public assistance with information regarding the incident and areas the 2007 Pontiac G6 may have travelled in and around the time of the collision. Investigators are also asking for dash camera, doorbell/home security, and business surveillance footage in the area at the time of the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact Traffic Division investigators at 204-986-7085 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
