Winnipeg Police are searching for a suspect following a stabbing over the weekend in the Weston area.

Police say a 40-year-old man was walking in the 1100 block of Logan Avenue at around 11:45 p.m. on Saturday when two males approached him and demanded his property at knifepoint.

According to police, unprovoked, one of the suspects stabbed the victim, leaving him with significant injuries to the upper body. Both suspects took off, and the victim ran to safety and called police.

With help from Air1, officers were able to locate one of the suspects walking in the area of Logan Avenue and Winks Street. Police asked him to stop; however, he immediately fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, he was safely placed under arrest without incident. A sharp edge weapon was recovered nearby.

The 24-year-old suspect has been charged with robbery and two counts of failure to comply with conditions of a release order. He remains in custody.

The suspect and victim are not previously known to one another. One suspect remains outstanding.

The Major Crimes Unit is continuing the investigation. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
