Chairperson Bill Kristjanson was in studio with Morning Light host Michael Wolch to talk about this year's festival and the 40th Anniversary of the Manitoba Band Association! Missed it? Watch the video here!
Since 1976, the annual Optimist Band Festival has been a right of passage for Manitoba band students.
Every February hundred of music students from all over the city and across the province head out to the Convention Centre in their black and white attire; cumberbuns and bow ties. It is a sight to behold! They've been practicing since the beginning of the school year and this when they get to show their stuff in front of a panel of adjudicators that have been invited from across North America.
The festival is put on by the Manitoba Band Association - a non-profit charitable organization which promotes the growth and development of band in Manitoba through regional and provincial programs and activities. In fact, this 2016/2017 school year they are celebrating 40 years of service to Manitoba bands!
Bill Kristjanson is the Chairperson of the Optimist Festival and he was Michael Wolch's guest Friday morning.
