Steve Loney, from TransCanada, was in to discuss their signature program, which offers more than $600,000 to post-secondary students.


TransCanada Corporation is a major North American energy company, based in Calgary, Alberta in Canada, that develops and operates energy infrastructure in North America. Every year they give back, by offering hundreds of scholarships to post-secondary students who qualify.


Here are some of the details:

TransCanada Community Leaders Scholarship – 100 scholarships X $1,000 - awarded to students who demonstrate a strong commitment to their communities through volunteerism, leadership and other activities.


TransCanada Indigenous Legacy Scholarship – 50 scholarships X $5,000 awarded to Indigenous students who are studying any academic disciplines. Students will be eligible to receive this scholarship year over year, assuming they remain enrolled.


TransCanada Trades Scholarship – 150 scholarships X $1,000 awarded to students who are studying trades relevant to the energy industry.


Students can answer five quick questions at to see if they pre-qualify to apply. The application window will close at 11:59:59 p.m. EST April 15, 2018.
