The Manitoba Band Association Family of Festivals returns for their last gathering of the season: April 17 through 19.

Following the Concert and Jazz Band festivals earlier this year, Level One welcomes less experienced instrumentalists to participate in performances and workshops.

“A lot of the groups that go to the Level One Festival are either in their first or second year of playing,” says École Regent Park band teacher Vanessa Nowostawski. Though there are exceptions, she notes.

“We have groups that could be smaller programs or are still recovering from the pandemic or that’s just where their bands are at.”

Groups of various sizes and ages perform and work with clinicians on their pieces and band skills.

“(It) is a great opportunity,” says Nowostawski, who will bring her Grade 7 Concert Band to the festival this year.
