With so much to see and do in Winnipeg, sometimes you need a guide. That's what the Classic 107 Arts & Entertainment Calendar is all about!

Thursday night (Oct 09) is the night of The Creation at the Centennial Concert Hall. Haydn’s masterpiece will be ringing in the halls of the downtown venue with the musicians of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and the voices of the U of M singers and alumni choir – featuring soprano Monica Huisman, bass Stephen Hegedus and tenor Christopher Enns.

Showtime is 8:00 PM and tickets are still available through the WSO Boxoffice.  Classic 107’s own Sarah Jo Kirsch will be in the chorus so keep a look out for her.

Below is Leonard Bernstein conducting one of the movements from Haydn's The Creation -- the German version. Thursday night's concert here in Winnipeg will be in English.

Friday night (Oct 10) the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra is back on stage with return guest conductor Aziz Shokhakimov. You may remember him from last season’s Tchaikovsky Festival. He’ll be leading the symphony in performances for Elgar’s Concerto in E minor for Violoncello & Orchestra, as well as Brahms Symphony No 4 in E minor. Also on the bill as the featured artist for Elgar’s Cello concerto, American cellist Julie Albers. It’s going to be a wonderful concert. That‘s Friday night (Oct 10) and Saturday night (Oct 11) at 8:00 PM in the Centennial Concert Hall. Tickets are available through the WSO boxoffice.

Watch Julie perform Tchaikovsky's Valse Sentimentale for Cello and Piano.

If you have little ones who love dinosaurs, and I know you do . . .Walking With the Dinosaurs - The Arena Spectacular is on right now at MTS Centre and going right through to Sunday. Basically it’s a massive puppet show with lifesize, or should I say Dinosaur size puppets who recreate the bygone era and give audiences a glimpse into what it might have looked like before man walked the earth. Tickets are available through ticketmaster.

Watch the event trailer for an earlier production. It is pretty cool!
