The Winnipeg Arts Council announces the 2017 Winnipeg Arts Council Award Nominees. The nominees will be honoured and the winners announced at the Mayor’s Luncheon for the Arts, taking place Thursday, June 8th, at the Fort Garry Hotel. The Winnipeg Arts Council Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation with charitable status, charged by the City of Winnipeg to distribute funding to arts organizations and artists, to manage the City’s Public Art Policy, and to foster development of the arts for the people of Winnipeg. As a pre-eminent city-building organization, the Winnipeg Arts Council focuses on the quality of life in the city and how arts and culture determines Winnipeg’s reputation as a City of the Arts, both nationally and internationally.

Thie annual Mayor's Luncheon For The Arts & The Winnipeg Arts Council Awards takes place this Thursday, and it is a great opportunity to honour and recognize excellence and creativity in and contribution to the arts: the RBC On the Rise Award; the Making a Mark Award; the Investors Group Making a Difference Award; the Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Outstanding Award; and the Arts Champion Award.
