Those participating in the Manitoba Marathon this year will get to know what it's like to run on a CFL field.

The finish line this time around will be on the turf at Investor's Group Field, a first for the event.

Manitoba Marathon executive director Rachel Munday says this has been on their radar and they've been speaking with the Winnipeg Football Club for a couple of years.

The finish line will be displayed live on the jumbotron, another first, although Munday says last year they had a smaller version of it.

Spectators will be able to sit in the stands at IGF and watch the race. Munday says the ultimate goal is for everyone to have a great experience.

"This building is made for mass-participation events, and it's made for spectating, it's made for cheering," she says.

If a full marathon is a bit intimidating, Munday also says they take pride in the fact they have something for everyone, including a 4.2 kilometre super run, a 10k run, and a five-person relay.

The race runs Father's Day, June 18th. Online registration closes at on June 14th. You can also sign up in-person at the Investor's Group Athletic Centre on the 16th and 17th. You cannot register on race day.
