The classical music season may be over but there are still many events happening throughout the summer. The Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival (July 12-16) is one of them. Daniel stopped by Classic 107 to chat with host Sarah Jo Kirsch. Missed it? Watch the video here!

 

Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival Artistic Director and Pianist Daniel Tselyako The Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival enters its twelfth year as it continues its tradition of showcasing both renowned performers and gifted emerging artists. This year the Festival will take place from July 12 to 16, with performances at Riding Mountain National Park, the Erickson (Manitoba) Lutheran Church, and Brandon University’s Lorne Watson Recital Hall.

This year audiences will be treated to six concerts: a piano recital, three chamber and two jazz programs

The Festival’s six concerts showcase a wide variety of musical styles and artists in performances the festival says are sure to inspire the new lover of classical music, delight the seasoned concertgoer, and add to summer pleasure of one and all.

Pianist and Co-Director of the Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival Daniel Tselyakov has won numerous scholarships and awards, including a full scholarship to the Pinchas Zukerman’s Young Artist International Program.

Since debuting at the age of nine with the State Philharmonic Orchestra of the Soviet Union, pianist and Director of the Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival Alexander Tselyakov has earned an international reputation for his inspired interpretations of classical, Romantic, and more modern works. He is Professor of Piano in Brandon University’s School of Music.

Greg Gatien serves as Dean of Brandon University’s School of Music and is a distinguished jazz saxophonist.

Violinist Oleg Pokhanovski has earned praise from the Winnipeg Free Press for his “high energy performances.”

Peter Stoll is both a scholar and performer of the clarinet repertoire, and teaches in the Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto.

The CBC has lauded Brian Yoon, the Principal Cello of the Victoria Symphony, as “Canada’s next cello superstar.”

Violinist and Oberlin Conservatory graduate Rodica Filipoi Jeffrey is a member of the Winnipeg Symphony and has held positions in orchestras in Canada and the U.S.

Dean McNeill heads the Department of Music at the University of Saskatchewan and is noted for his compositions and for his trumpet performances in both classical and jazz idioms.

Alla Turbanova teaches at both the Brandon University School of Music and the Eckhardt-Gramatté Conservatory of Music, and is the recipient of numerous scholarships, trophies, and awards.

Violinist Laszlo Baroczi is a graduate of Hungary’s Bela Bartok Institute of Music and performs with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, the Music Barock Ensemble, and the Azure String Quartet.
