From childhood memories to midlife musings, a show inspired by The Arc of Life.

Last week on the show I featured a number of tracks from Yo Yo Ma & Kathryn Stott's newest CD called Songs From the Arc of Life. It is a recording that is a musical journey and window into their universal adventures through life and time, in musical terms. Songs that are associated with certain times in their lives.

So, I was inspired to think about what music left its mark on my life, up to this point. There are far too many to play and some I would rather forget, but I decided to dedicate a couple hours of this show to sharing some of the musical highlights from my decades here on earth. No there won't be any Muddy Waters or The Doors, but Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi and Glass will be featured. Maybe it will get you thinking about your musical journey. Feel free to share some of your important musical memories with me if you want at mwolch@goldenwestradio.com . Maybe I will put together a show of your music!

Everybody knows Vivaldi (if you don't, it's ok), but instead of playing his well-worn music, I decided to spend 1 hour of the show featuring music of his contemporaries.

Furthermore, there will be some fabulous new releases; preludes; and I will take you on a glorious music-themed river cruise courtesy of Cruise World. Bon voyage!

Here are a few clips in anticipation of the journey this Saturday:

Johann Strauss Jr: Wine Women and Song

Michael Nyman: Sheep 'N' Tides

Smetana: Ma Vlast - Moldau
