Classic 107's Sara Krahn makes her way, along with the rest of the city, to Bird's Hill Park for one of Canada's favourite outdoor music festivals..

Thousands of people have been flocking to Bird’s Hill Park this weekend for the 43rd annual Winnipeg Folk Festival. I was there on Friday to get some kettle corn and check out the musical hype. It was 25 degrees and full of everything a folkie expects to see at the festival: hammocks, hoola hoops, crop tops, and bluegrass bands you’ve never heard of. Here are some snaps I took from the day:

Woodsy Winnipeg group The Crooked Brothers perform at the Snowberry Field stage in Birds Hill Park.

The Dead South, a bluegrass quartet from Regina, plays some hard-hitting prairies tunes at the Big Bluestem.

Think the Carter Family meets Johnny Cash - it's The Foggy Hogtown Boys, a bluegrass ensemble hailing from Ontario.

The folksters.

Relaxed people.
