Steinbach iced tea stand raises thousands for 4-year-old boy living with cancer
A young boy battling cancer is feeling loved after a successful iced tea stand was held in support of him. Over the course of two days, Brooke Peters and Marek Hiebert managed to raise $18,000 through their sale. The funds raised will go to help a four-year-old boy named Elliot, who was diagnosed with a Wilms tumour in October. "It was on his kidney, and they removed his left kidney and then they found two more spots on his lungs," said Brooke. Doctors were able to remove one of the spots, and hope that radiation will work on the other spot. Elliot also received a stem cell transplant in February and is still recovering from that. At this year's stand, Brooke and Marek sold a variety of items, including, iced tea, lemonade, brownies, pumpkin bars, cookies, lanyards, t-shirts and hoodies. Since it started, the Brooke and Koda Iced Tea stand has raised over $56,000 for cancer.
