Dozens of motorcyclists gathered on Saturday morning at Deacon's Corner in Springfield for the Guardians of the Children's 'Empower the Children' motorcycle ride. Guardians of the Children is an advocacy organization that supports and protects children who have endured abuse. The organization has a motorcycle-focused outreach. The group supports victims of child abuse by accompanying them to court and holding family-focused events to foster healing and healthy connections. "We work with children who have been abused. We adopt them symbolically into our family, and those are the ones we work with; we protect them as we go to court and do other family events," explained Rooster, the Vice President of the Guardians of the Children Winnipeg-Steinbach Chapter. "We are trying to make sure that these children can be children again and not have to be victims for the rest of their lives. The biggest thing is, don't let your silence drown out their cries," added Rooster. The 'Empower the Children' motorcycle ride is an annual event. " We are excited to have the fourth annual Guardians of the Children, 'Empower the Children' motorcycle ride," said Donkey, the President of the Guardians of the Children Winnipeg-Steinbach Chapter. The motorcycle ride was held to raise funds and awareness for those whom Guardians of the Children serve. "We are here today for a ride to raise money, to educate the public, and to help a kid be a kid. It shouldn't hurt to be a child," said Big Biscuit, a member of the Children Winnipeg-Steinbach Chapter. Members of Guardians of the Children emphasized the need to empower and support children who have experienced abuse. "You need to support kids -kids are our future. These kids don't deserve to go through what they go through, and they need us there. They need our support," said Girlfriend, the Secretary of the Guardians of the Children Winnipeg-Steinbach Chapter. "We need to be their voice," concluded Donkey.
